Children's Health
Consultation and Inpatients
The resident rotating on each service is responsible for daily rounds and for inpatient consults when instructed. The resident will report new findings immediately to the faculty. Faculty will be immediately available throughout the day.
Procedures
All procedures performed by the residents will be under the direct supervision of the faculty. Faculty will be present for all critical portions of the procedure and will be immediately available throughout the case.
Call
The resident will take call every third week at Children's Health. The resident will contact the faculty for any significant changes on inpatients and for any new consults. Faculty will be available immediately for case reviews and for significant procedures. Faculty will also be immediately available by phone and available to come to the hospital in a reasonable time period.
Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center
Consultation and Inpatients
The rotating resident is responsible for running the day to day organization of the service. They will see all consults in a timely manner and will round on the inpatients twice daily. The rotating resident will be under the immediate supervision of the faculty Chief of Staff at the Dallas VA or their designee. The resident will review all consults and the inpatients with the faculty Chief of Staff daily.
Procedures
All procedures performed by the residents will be under the direct supervision of faculty. Faculty will be present for all critical portions of the procedure and will be immediately available throughout the case.
Call
The Dallas VA resident will take home call during the week and every other weekend. They will report directly to the on-call faculty for any significant changes on inpatients, any new consultations, and any significant procedures. Faculty will be immediately available by phone and available to come to the Dallas VA in a reasonable time period.
Parkland Hospital Supervision Policies
Consultation and Inpatients
Junior residents (PGY1-3) will be under the direct supervision of the Chief Resident. The Chief Resident will make daily rounds twice and be immediately available for consultation throughout the day. The Chief Resident will be under the direct supervision of the Parkland Faculty Chief of Staff or his designee. Junior residents will conduct initial emergency evaluation and will report their findings to the Chief Resident. Faculty will review all consults and patients daily with the Chief Resident.
Procedures
All procedures performed by the residents will be under the direct supervision of faculty. Faculty will be present for all critical portions of the procedure and will be immediately available throughout the case.
Call
In house call will be rotated one in four among the junior residents. The in house resident will report all significant changes on hospitalized patients and all new consultations to the Chief Resident. The Chief resident will notify the on-call faculty for all significant changes and for any surgical procedures. Faculty will be immediately available by phone and available to come to the Hospital in a reasonable time period.
Texas Health Dallas Supervision Policies
Consultation and Inpatients
Junior residents (PGY1-3) will be under the direct supervision of the faculty. The faculty will make daily rounds twice and be immediately available for consultation throughout the day. The resident will be under the direct supervision of the Texas Health Dallas (THD) Faculty Chief of Staff or his designee. Junior residents will conduct initial emergency evaluation and will report their findings to the faculty. Faculty will review all consults and patients daily with the resident.

All procedures performed by the residents will be under the direct supervision of faculty. Faculty will be present for all critical portions of the procedure and will be immediately available throughout the case.
Call

The resident will notify the on-call faculty for all significant changes and for any surgical procedures. Faculty will be immediately available by phone and available to come to the Hospital in a reasonable time period. Residents take 10 days of home call when on service. Other nights are taken by resident moonlighters when available.

Faculty will be immediately available by phone and available to come to the Zale Lipshy Pavilion in a reasonable time period.
