SMS Terms and Conditions

By providing a mobile phone number and opting-in for automated text alerts, you represent and warrant that you are legally authorized to opt-in for automated text alerts to the phone number you provide. You agree to promptly notify us if your phone number changes. You grant permission for unlimited automated text messages to be sent to the mobile phone number you provide until you opt-out, which you may do at any time. You understand that you will receive text alerts even if your phone number is on a state or federal “Do not Call List."

You are required to opt-in for text alerts to receive services from UT Southwestern Medical Center Alerts and you can opt-out via your mobile phone when you choose. You understand that your mobile phone number or other information you provide will be kept confidential and will only be disclosed as permitted under state and federal law.

Message and Data rates may apply. Check with your wireless phone carrier for your plan details. By providing your consent to receive recurring text messages, you approve any such charges from your mobile carrier. Charges for text messages or data usage may appear on your mobile phone bill or be deducted from your prepaid balance by your mobile carrier.

If you no longer want to receive text messages from us, you agree that your sole and exclusive remedy is to end enrollment in the applicable texting program(s). This may be accomplished by updating the corresponding application or replying STOP to 63623 to cancel.

You agree that under no circumstances will UT Southwestern be liable to you for any direct or indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, statutory or punitive damages arising out of or related to any text messages sent to you.

We do not guarantee the successful delivery of text messages by your wireless provider. Messages sent by text may not be delivered if the mobile device is not in range of a transmission site, or if sufficient network capacity is not available at a particular time. Even within a coverage area, factors beyond the control of wireless carriers may interfere with message delivery, including the terrain, proximity to buildings, foliage, weather, and the recipient’s equipment. We will not be liable for losses or damages arising from (a) non-delivery, delayed delivery, or misdirected delivery of a text message; (b) inaccurate or incomplete content in a text message; or (c) use or reliance on the content of any text message for any purpose.

You agree that these terms and any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or related to these terms, or any transaction contemplated thereby, shall be governed by the laws of the State of Texas without respect to any choice of law analysis. You acknowledge that UT Southwestern is a public institution of higher education organized and operated by the State of Texas, entitled to sovereign immunity, and that nothing in these terms shall waive UT Southwestern’s sovereign immunity or any other rights, defenses, or privileges available to UT Southwestern.

Any information you submit to UT Southwestern will be handled in accordance with our privacy policy and other applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
