Accessibility Policy
UT Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern) is committed to making its websites attainable to all users. We have included several features designed to improve accessibility for users with disabilities.
To aid users who use a screen reader to listen to the content of the website, rather than reading the site, the following elements have been added:
- A hyperlink is provided to circumvent repetitive navigation elements.
- Navigation, linked items, and forms are accessible via a logical tab sequence.
- Descriptive alternative text is provided for non-text links and images.
- JavaScript and Flash are given equivalent text or html elements.
UT Southwestern adheres to the standards set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We test any major redesign with screen readers and other tools and the results of these reviews are incorporated into the website. We also currently use various tools for site validation, including Bobby and HiSoftware Cynthia.
UT Southwestern welcomes comments on how to improve the site's accessibility for users with disabilities.
If you use assistive technology and the format of any material on our website interferes with your ability to access the information, please email the Accessibility Coordinator. Please indicate the nature of your accessibility problem, the preferred format in which to receive the material, the web address of the requested material, and your contact information.
Additional information about accessibility programs in Texas is available from the Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities.
