Accreditation
Regional Accreditation
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. UTSW also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about our accreditation may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling 404-679-4500, or by accessing SACSCOC’s website.
SACSCOC is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the United States Department of Education. UTSW’s initial accreditation from SACSCOC was in 1973. Its accreditation was last reaffirmed in 2019. The next reaffirmation is scheduled for 2029. See UTSW's accreditation status.
Professional Accreditations
UTSW offers several degree programs recognized by professional accrediting organizations. Each program oversees the maintenance of its own professional accreditation. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Accreditation, and Assessment serves as a central support resource for those efforts. More information about professional accreditation is available on the website for each degree program.
