Cancer Center Culture

The Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center’s (SCCC) Office of Cancer Center Culture strives to have Cancer Center membership and leadership closely reflect the population the Center serves in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Cancer Center Culture aims to:

1) Enhance Retention and Development 

  • Define the career development needs of current SCCC under-represented minority (URM)/diversity staff, trainees, and faculty
  • Identify URM/diversity potential for leadership
  • Implement stakeholder-driven training, coaching, and sponsorship plans

2) Catalyze Effective Recruitment 

  • Design and execute recruitment strategies to increase ‘mirroring’ of DFW demographics at all levels within SCCC

3) Foster Cultural Health

  • Identify main equity and inclusion challenges and strategize solutions to create and measure cultural health and effectively show the value of diversity and inclusion
  • Strategize solutions to create & measure cultural health
  • Effectively show the value of diversity and inclusion
