Mentorship Program
Our mission is to empower individuals through mentorship by fostering growth, confidence, and personal development. We are committed to creating a supportive community where senior and junior faculty collaborate to achieve their goals, enhance their skills, and unlock their highest potential. Through guided learning, shared experiences, and mutual respect, the program aims to cultivate leaders, promote lifelong learning, and contribute positively to the personal and professional lives of our faculty.
Our Mentorship Program is designed to support early-career faculty. We aspire to equip our mentees with the skills and community support needed to achieve their career goals at UT Southwestern. We harness the power of mentors, networks, information and conversation to promote a culture of growth and inclusion. The program does not pair each early career physician with a mentor-we encourage mentees to choose their mentors, who are highlighted on this website. The coaching program pairs new faculty with a physician coach for six individual sessions, that helps them acclimate to the new role and institution.
Faculty Bootcamp lectures are offered throughout the year on hot topics for early and mid career faculty which include, but are not limited to: conflict management, negotiation, feedback for Clinical Educator faculty, scholarly work, and education theory. Both mentors and mentees will be supported in peer mentoring groups throughout the year to develop a strong sense of community and support all faculty members at every level of practice.
Program Goals Include:
-
Cultivate Leaders: We believe every faculty is a leader. We will provide the environment to foster growth, and opportunities for collaboration with senior mentors to create meaningful careers in academic medicine.
-
Support Work-Life Balance and Wellness: Address burnout prevention by discussing strategies for stress management, maintaining work-life balance, and promoting long-term wellness.
-
Develop Mentorship and Teaching Skills: Cultivate teaching abilities that enhance team-based learning in clinical environments, simulation, and for board prep.
We encourage any interested faculty, residents, or fellows in the subspeciality of anesthesiology and pain management to fill out the Mentorship Program Intake Form located on the right side of this page. Should you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to our program director for further information.
