Anesthesiology Faculty Peer Coaching

The Anesthesiology Peer Coaching Program aims to benefit both new and seasoned faculty members across our Department. Through individualized coaching sessions, mentors will provide support to their colleagues and offer insight for overcoming workplace obstacles.

  • Are the sessions confidential?

    Yes, exceptions are made for suspected self-harm or injury to others, or if you share information about sexual misconduct that requires reporting under Title IX. The pre and post survey data is de-identified and only used for program evaluation assessment and to study effects of coaching on well-being, engagement and advancement. 

  • What are the differences between a coach and a mentor?
    • Mentoring is a long-term relationship with a senior faculty member, that helps the mentee in career development over number of years
    • Coaching is a short term, goal oriented, topic-oriented relationship to achieve a relatively short-term goal. These short-term goals may be components of your long-term goals. A coaching session may be single or multiple but generally do not last for more than 5 sessions for a particular topic
