Our Mission

To provide advanced practice providers (APP) comprehensive education and mentorship, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed for excellence in clinical practice, education, and leadership, and to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community.

Program Structure

UT Southwestern Medical Center offers several full-time, one-year postgraduate Advanced Practice Provider fellowships in both adult and pediatric specialties. These programs are designed to build upon foundational academic preparation by providing specialized didactic and clinical experiences. The goal is to prepare participants to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care within their chosen specialty. These opportunities align with UT Southwestern's mission to educate, discover, and heal, reflecting our commitment to advancing healthcare excellence.

  • Didactic Education: Fellows participate in structured didactic sessions covering core topics relevant to their specialty area, including pathophysiology, pharmacology, diagnostic techniques, and evidence-based practice.
  • Clinical Rotations: Fellows engage in supervised clinical rotations in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, specialty centers, and community health facilities. Rotations provide exposure to a diverse patient population and hands-on experience in managing acute and chronic conditions in a given specialty.
  • Advanced Procedures: Fellows have the opportunity to learn and perform advanced procedures relevant to their specialty under the guidance of experienced preceptors.
  • Interprofessional Collaboration: Fellows collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive and patient-centered care.
  • Mentorship and Professional Development: Fellows receive mentorship and guidance from experienced clinicians and faculty members. They also have access to professional development opportunities, including conferences, workshops, and networking events, to support their ongoing growth and advancement in the field.
