Resources for Owners and Referring Veterinarians

Appointments and Billing

The Companion Animal Program is committed to ensuring swift enrollment in our clinical trials. Once the inclusion criteria for a specific trial are met, our team will schedule your visit. All treatments will be administered at the Companion Animal Program, conveniently located in Dallas.

A dedicated team will handle billing and payments, and the financial responsibilities related to treatments will be comprehensively explained by the study coordinator during an outpatient consultation. You may be required to make an upfront deposit, covering a portion of the treatment cost, with the remaining balance due upon completion. We do not accept pet insurance.

We kindly request a minimum 24-hour notice for any cancellations. Failure to provide proper notice may result in an appointment fee charged to the owner. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact our finance team.

Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Guidelines

Chemotherapy involves the use of highly cytotoxic drugs, and immunotherapy could be an agent-activating anticancer immunity in patients. These treatments are conducted at our state-of-the-art Companion Animal Program facility, overseen by board-certified clinicians. Typically, a combination of medications is administered as part of the treatment regimen.

Our clinical team will provide you with guidelines to adhere to trial protocols. The drugs can be administered through various methods, including intravenous injections, oral medications, or other routes.

For the safety of all patients, those returning on the same day from the facility should not come into contact with pregnant or immunocompromised patients. Handling pet feces and urine should be done while wearing protective chemo gloves, and it's essential to limit the patient's mobility around the house.

While each patient will receive a customized treatment protocol, we anticipate three to six visits based on clinical outcomes. Patients can continue to receive regular veterinary care including vaccinations during their treatments, and our clinical team is available to provide consultations to assist with case management at referral centers.

How to Make Referral Contacts

Clients have the option to contact our clinical coordinator's office directly or they can request their referring veterinarian to submit a referral form for further consultation. When using our referral service for clinical trial enrollment, please ensure that the submitted information includes a comprehensive case summary, details of prior treatments, and the results of relevant diagnostic tests.
