Student Accommodations
Student Learners with Disabilities
Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable an individual to participate in UT Southwestern academic programs, services, or activities, unless doing so would cause undue hardship to the operations of UT Southwestern or cause an alteration or modification to a course or program to the extent it changes the fundamental and essential nature of that course or program.

Requesting Reasonable Accommodations Due to Disability
If you believe you need reasonable accommodations for equal and effective access to your courses or materials, initiate a request by completing the Formal Request for Accommodations Due to Disability or by contacting Campus Accessibility Services via Accessibility@UTSouthwestern.edu. Accommodations are made on a case-by-case basis based on the nature and extent of the disability.
It is a violation of UT Southwestern policy to fail to provide reasonable accommodations to the known physical or mental limitations of a qualified individual with a disability.
An accommodation requested through CAS will be adjudicated objectively and quickly. The process includes meeting with CAS staff and participating in the interactive process in order to determine the most appropriate, effective and reasonable accommodations allowing you to fully participate in our academic programs.
Pregnant/Parenting Students
UT Southwestern's Title IX Team provides accommodations for pregnant student learners and applicants. The Title IX Team can provide accommodations based on your pregnancy or parenting status and will coordinate any disability related accommodations with Campus Accessibility Services.
Emotional Support/Service Animals
UT Southwestern provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities who are residents in campus housing. If you believe that you need a reasonable accommodation for a Service Animal or Emotional Support Animal, please initiate a request through Campus Accessibility Services via the appropriate form below. Accommodation approvals are made on a case-by-case basis.
When requesting an accommodation, please submit documentation of your disability with specific recommendations from a qualified professional.
Barriers on Campus
UT Southwestern strives to prevent and remove barriers to access through maintenance and response to reported problems. Individuals who encounter a physical, electronic, or programmatic barrier on campus can assist the University in this effort by reporting the problem so the barrier can be removed as quickly as possible in order to maintain access for everyone. Examples of barriers include:
- Lack of an access ramp to a building
- Inoperative wheelchair lift
- Inaccessible website for the visual- or hearing-impaired
- Blocked access ramp or any other access barrier
