Transgenic Mouse Lacking the Gene that Encodes Cytochrome C

In the summer and fall of 1999, transgenic mice, and resulting cell lines, deficient in cytochrome c were developed and characterized at UT Southwestern. The result of these efforts were published in Li, et. al. (Cell 101; 389-399, 2000).

In May 2002 a non-exclusive distribution license was entered into between UT Southwestern Medical Center inventors (Kang Li, John Shelton, James Richardson, Zhijian Chen, Xiaodong Wang and R. Sanders Williams) and The Jackson Laboratory, to make available for worldwide distribution to non-profit research institutions, transgenic mice lacking the gene that encodes cytochrome c. This distribution license requires for-profit research entities to individually obtain limited use licenses from UT Southwestern prior to receiving mice from The Jackson Laboratory.
