The National Institute of Mental Health awarded Jennifer Coughlin, M.D., a $4 million grant to study the colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) in the brains of people with virally suppressed HIV. The CSF1R is a marker expressed by microglia, the resident immune cells in the brain, and can be quantified across the brain using positron emission tomography. Dr. Coughlin will study the relationship between the neuroimmune response in select brain regions and performance in measures of cognitive control in treated HIV.

Sidarth Wakhlu, M.D., has received the Patricia and William L. Watson Jr., M.D. Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine, UT Southwestern's top honor for clinical care, recognizing excellence in patient care, leadership in advancing clinical innovations, and a profound impact on students, trainees, colleagues, and patients.

Jasmine Liu-Zarzuela, M.D., M.P.H., has received an American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Educational Outreach Program award for Psychiatry Residents.
