Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

It is an honor to lead a department where excellence in care, education, and research is our tradition.

Driven by courage, compassion, and collaboration, it is a privilege to serve our patients and community in a department of more than 300 faculty members and across all our academic sites: William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, Children’s Health, Metrocare, Parkland Health, Texas Health Presbyterian, and the VA North Texas Health Care System.

Our expert clinicians provide outstanding mental health care through innovative models of service for patients and families across the lifespan.

Our educators partner our learners to inspire the future generation of behavioral health and psychiatry clinicians, teachers, and scientists. 

Our research spanning from the bench to the health system integrates multiple lines of inquiry to raise new questions, advance our concepts of mental disorders, discover underlying mechanisms of disease, and design novel therapeutic interventions.
