Bicycles
UT Southwestern welcomes bicycles and bicycle commuters. Please follow this helpful guide regarding bicycle safety, parking, and more.
Register Your Bike with University Police (It's Free!)
Stolen bikes that are registered with UTSW police are more easily returned to their owner if found, so please register your bike at no cost.
Lock Your Bike
To reduce the chance of bicycle theft, always lock your bike with a U-lock or cable passing through as many parts of your bike as possible to minimize theft of components (like wheels). In the event your bicycle, or a part of your bicycle, is stolen, contact University Police.
Safety
- Always wear a helmet.
- General safety tips
- Obey State of Texas bicycle laws.
- Never ride on the Campus Connector roadway. It is closed to cyclists.
Park Your Bike in Designated Areas
The symbol above indicates bicycle parking on the campus map. (Bicycles left unattended for more than 30 days will be considered abandoned.)
Bicycles and DART
The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system allows bicyclists to use DART with their bikes. Check out Bikes and DART for details.
Showers Are Available
Locker rooms with showers are available on South Campus at Williams Student Center (MA). A day pass to the Williams Student Center is $6/day and $40/month for UT Southwestern employees.

Motorcycle parking is allowed in designated areas in the following locations:
- Staff Lot 8 (West Campus)
- Student Garage 3 (South Campus)
- UTSW Service Building (X) parking lot
Otherwise, motorcycles should park in standard parking spaces.
