Thank you for considering UT Southwestern’s Neurological Physical Therapy Residency Program. Here you’ll find unequaled academic and clinical training in a challenging but fun atmosphere, and we invite you to apply!
To be considered, please submit an application through the RF-PTCAS website. Applications are due by January 31st with appointment decisions made no later than March 31st. Interviews are typically conducted in late February or early March. The year-long residency begins annually in September.
Selection Criteria
We select 2 residents annually and base our selection on information provided by applicants and gathered through interviews conducted by the residency team. New graduates and those with clinical experience are encouraged to apply. Our residency committee evaluates all applicants on the following criteria:
- Passion for neurological physical therapy practice
- Clinical working experience (or clinical education experience) in neurological physical therapy
- Service (volunteering and/or involvement in PT organizations at a local, state, and/or national level)
- Academic performance during DPT education
- Interest in teaching and practicing at an academic medical center
- Letters of recommendation
- Clinical and academic reference letters
- Personal essays
- In-person interview

Requirements
Our program provides an educational and clinical experience of the highest quality with the expectation of substantial growth in our residents from an academic, clinical, administration, and leadership perspective. Additionally, we expect that our residents will pass the Neurologic Clinical Specialist Exam within 1-2 years of completing the program.
To be considered for admission, you must hold:
- A current and valid physical therapist license from the State of Texas
- Basic life support/cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification
