Scholarships, Fellowships, and Special Funds

UT Southwestern Medical Center does not consider ethnicity, gender, age, or religion in awarding scholarships or fellowships. UT Southwestern will honor other expressed wishes of donors in awarding scholarships, including such considerations as career interests, residency status, and year in school.

Information on availability of these funds can be obtained from the Office of Financial Aid.

The Medical Center offers some scholarships and emergency loans that are specific to programs within the UT Southwestern School of Health Professions.

Schermerhorn Scholarship

Scholarships in the amount of $250 each per year are awarded based upon a student’s academic performance. Students must have achieved a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 for previous and current work and must have completed at least 12 semester hours in the School of Health Professions. Awards are presented in the early spring of each year. The award was established in honor of the late John W. Schermerhorn, Ph.D., the second Dean of the School of Health Professions.
