Associate Professor/Professor (Tenure-Track) in Human Genetics
Director of UT Southwestern’s Population Genomic Sequencing Program
We seek an experienced human geneticist to direct a pivotal new population genomics initiative at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Sequencing Populations to Accelerate Research and Care (SPARC) program will obtain whole exome sequencing on 150,000+ individuals of all ages followed at UT Southwestern and/or its affiliated hospital and partner institutions. These genomic data will be linked to detailed, curated clinical information and other biomarkers and imaging data to facilitate population genetic screening, personalized medical therapy and discovery of new genetic contributors to human disease in the diverse and rapidly growing population of Dallas-Fort Worth.
The SPARC Director will work closely with Director of the Center for Human Genetics and with UT Southwestern’s Vice Provosts for Basic and Clinical Research to assure broad ultilization of this important institutional resource. SPARC is fully supported by a public-private industry partnership and includes a generous budget from the institution for project management staff, secondary sequencing analyses, biobanking, computational genomics, and genetic counseling.
Applicants from either academia or industry are welcomed and should hold a graduate degree (M.D., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.). Experience in large-scale genomics, informatics and clinical genetics will be considered as key assets for this position, as will a track record of leadership in multidisciplinary research. The successful applicant will be appointed to the UT Southwestern faculty as an Associate or full Professor in the Center for Human Genetics or another department suitable for the candidate’s interests and expertise. Candidates should apply online at https://jobs.utsouthwestern.edu/ (search for job #810264) by October 31, 2024. Applications should include a cover letter, complete C.V., 3-page summary of past accomplishments and current research, and names of three references. Please email questions to SPARC@UTSouthwestern.edu. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishment and experience.
