NEI Vision Research Core Facility
The National Eye Institute (NEI) Core Facility supports vision research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Many NEI-supported research activities at UT Southwestern share a common reliance on three major technologies:
- Stem cell, organoid, and cell phenotyping
- Gene editing and virus production
- Microscopy and animal phenotyping
Over the past several years, investigators in the Department of Ophthalmology have shared resources, technical expertise, and equipment to facilitate their respective research programs in a remarkably collegial atmosphere. The expansion of the Department of Ophthalmology's laboratory facilities, and the acquisition of additional NEI grant support for investigators on campus, prompted us to assemble a core grant as a means of enhancing these research activities.
Please contact us if you are a vision researcher interested in using the core facility.
