Message from the Program Director
Welcome to the UT Southwestern Neurology Residency Program! The next four years are for you to identify, develop, and pursue your passions. As the program director, I am your advocate for whatever career path you aspire to pursue. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful group of close-knit residents with diverse backgrounds and interests. Our residents have become published researchers, strong educators, and insightful clinicians who put patient care and teamwork at the center. We constantly look to our trainees to strengthen the quality of our training program.
We are the only academic medical center in North Texas and serve a very large catchment area. Our distinguished internationally renowned faculty is dedicated to educating our future generation of neurologists. As a Dallas native who trained at UT Southwestern for both Neurology residency and Neuromuscular Medicine fellowship, I have had the pleasure of both growing with the UTSW Neurology family as a trainee and expanding our program as the director. It puts me in a unique position to connect with trainees and champion their growth and career goals.
I am committed to supporting your individual journeys. I encourage you to explore and push past your own boundaries. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with mentors, and as you grow, become thoughtful mentors yourself. Working with our trainees and learning from them each day is the most rewarding part of my position.
Regardless of where our professional careers take us, as physicians, we are leaders in our field. I urge our residents to practice these skills from the very beginning. Your success is our success.
Come join us!
Lauren Phillips, M.D.
