Message from the Program Director
Program Director, Department of Internal Medicine
Thank you so much for your interest in our fellowship training program. I am the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship Program Director at UT Southwestern and have been extremely fortunate to work with a stellar group of fellows year after year. I graduated from this fellowship program in 2012, and like over half of the current clinicians in our division, I decided to remain at UT Southwestern because it is a unique and outstanding environment to provide patient care, academic pursuits, and personal growth. Our training program is strongly committed to preparing our fellows fully for “life after fellowship” to become expert clinicians, researchers and thought leaders and to ultimately lead successful careers as endocrinologists.
At UTSW, we have 27 dedicated and very approachable endocrine faculty who are actively involved in the clinical training of our fellows. Our fellows are supervised by these faculty at all training sites and rotate with expert clinicians in a variety of dedicated, subspecialty endocrine clinics, such as the Weight Wellness, Mineral Metabolism, Gender Care, Multidisciplinary Pituitary, and Multidisciplinary Endocrine Tumor Clinics.
During the research portion of our two-year fellowship, our fellows have the opportunity to work with nationally and internationally renowned basic, translational, and clinical mentors in areas such as diabetes and obesity, endocrine neoplasia, mineral metabolism, lipids and lipodystrophy, and thyroid research programs.
Educational sessions include a review of endocrine topics as part of a formal didactic curriculum. Our fellows participate in a variety of endocrine conferences, such as Endocrine Grand Rounds, Fellows’ Case Conference, Endocrine Journal Club, “fellows’ choice” ABC conference, and our multidisciplinary Reproductive Endocrinology, Pituitary, Adrenal, Mineral Metabolism and Thyroid conferences.
We appreciate your interest in the UT Southwestern Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship Program and look forward to meeting you during our interview season in the fall. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns.
