Cultural Diversity Group

The FWC Cultural Diversity Group seeks to promote an environment of intercultural appreciation. We value the unique differences among people and celebrate the cultural heritages of our members.

The Cultural Diversity Group has over 80 members from different parts of the U.S. and all over the world. Our members represent a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds: European American, Asian American, African American, Asian, Iranian, Polish, German, Irish, French, Lebanese, Scottish, Anglo-Scandinavian, Jewish, Spanish, Mexican, Latino, Estonian, Ukrainian, Russian, Indian, and Western European.

The Cultural Diversity Group holds regular meetings, which have included trips to local international restaurants, potluck events at members' homes, guest lectures (e.g. Cherokee History and Culture, Diwali, Chinese Jade), and informal Zoom discussions on a variety of fun, engaging topics. The aim of these meetings is to create an opportunity for the members to meet like-minded individuals while sharing and learning different cultural experiences and perspectives--all in an informal, welcoming environment. The Group’s activities are the result of a collaboration among Group members, so any suggestions and thoughts are always appreciated.

The Cultural Diversity group has many exciting events planned for the 2024-2025 year. We will attend a Jewish cooking class in early Fall, hold the annual cookie exchange in December, and a Nowruz (Persian New Year) celebration including a flower-making class in March.

Whether you are from another country or simply love to learn about different cultures--the Cultural Diversity Group welcomes everyone!
