Benefits Annual Open Enrollment 2023
This message was originally sent to all campus on July 12 from UTSW Human Resources.
To the UT Southwestern Community:
Starting Saturday, July 15, and continuing through 11:59 p.m. CT Monday, July 31, you are eligible to make annual benefit selections for 2023-24. Any new elections and changes will go into effect Sept. 1, 2023, which marks the beginning of the new benefit plan year.
Annual enrollment is your opportunity to elect or adjust coverage and add or remove dependents. Benefits changes outside the annual enrollment window require a qualifying event such as a change in marital status or birth/adoption of a child.
Key details this year:
- Employee-only coverage will remain at no cost for benefits-eligible employees who work at least 30 hours a week and select the medical plan option.
- UT SELECT medical plan premiums will increase for dependent coverage.
- The UT CONNECT pilot program will conclude Aug. 31, 2023. Employees and their eligible dependents who are currently enrolled in UT CONNECT will automatically be enrolled in the
- UT SELECT medical plan effective Sept. 1.
- The health care flexible spending account (FSA) maximum will increase to $3,050, up from the current $2,850.
- GLP-1 drugs for weight loss (e.g., Wegovy and Saxenda) will no longer be covered under the prescription drug plan. GLP-1 drugs prescribed for Type 2 diabetes will remain a covered benefit.
- The employee and employer rates for Teacher Retirement System (TRS) will increase to 8.25%, up from 8% currently.
