Disclosing personal relationships at UTSW
Did you know all UT Southwestern employees are required to disclose personal and family relationships that may create a conflict of interest in the workplace? This helps ensure a fair workplace for all, retaining top talent across all areas of the organization. Additionally, this disclosure helps to ensure the proper safeguards are put in place to avoid potential conflicts.
In the Annual Compliance Training module, available in Taleo Learn from March 6-April 20, you’ll notice a new section on the employment of relatives (nepotism) and consensual relationships, which includes:
- Policies EMP-157 (Employment of Relatives (Nepotism)) and ETH-111 (Consensual Relationships)
- An overview of the new disclosure feature in PeopleSoft Employee Self Service
All UTSW employees must acknowledge the relationship disclosure section in PeopleSoft as part of compliance training. In Employee Self Service > Personal Details > Relationship Disclosure:
- No relationships to disclose? Select “no,” then check the box to confirm your selections and select “Submit.”
- Need to add or update a disclosure? Select “yes,” enter the details, check the box to confirm your selections, and select “Submit.” An email will then be sent to the employee you listed to remind him/her to disclose as well. If you receive one of these emails and believe you were listed in error, contact the Employee Relations team in HR for assistance.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the new digital disclosure feature, please EmployeeRelations@UTSouthwestern.edu the Employee Relations team. We appreciate your time and attention to this important effort to prevent conflicts of interest and appearances of favoritism at UT Southwestern.
