COVID-19 vaccination info for 2023-24
This message was originally sent from Campus Updates.
To the UT Southwestern Community:
Starting this week, UT Southwestern will offer the new formulation of the COVID-19 vaccine to our employees, students, and patients.
Below is information on when, where, and how to receive your vaccination, and details on a new process for scheduling your appointment at UT Southwestern.
Locations
- We are offering the vaccine at all of our retail pharmacies on a walk-in basis. A list of retail pharmacy locations is available online.
- Weekdays beginning Thursday, Sept. 28 through Oct. 6, employee COVID-19 vaccinations will also be available by appointment in the second-floor Education Center in Clements University Hospital (CUH). (Flu shots will be offered at this location through Oct. 5.)
- Oct. 9 through Oct. 13, employee COVID-19 vaccinations will move to the Professional Office Building (POB) Conference Center (HA1.100). Flu shots also will be offered there Oct. 9 through Oct. 31.
Scheduling
To book your COVID-19 appointment at the CUH Education Center, you will need to complete this online form. (As a reminder, employee flu shots should be scheduled through the ReadySet platform. Flu shot details can be found on Campus Updates.)
Please be prepared to provide key details on the form, including:
- How many previous doses of COVID-19 vaccine you have received
- The date of your most recent COVID-19 vaccine dose
- Preference of vaccine (e.g., Pfizer or Moderna)
- Your insurance information
The new vaccine is monovalent and specifically targets the Omicron variant XBB.1.5 and has also been shown to provide protection against other circulating variants, including EG.5.1 and BA.2.86.
Earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidelines about who should receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine and when.
As a reminder, since the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services withdrew its mandatory COVID-19 vaccination mandate for health care workers, COVID-19 vaccination is now optional for members of our Health System.
Moving forward, UT Southwestern’s COVID-19 vaccination strategy will likely look more like our approach for the flu – with anticipated annual vaccinations aimed to match the current circulating strains of the virus.
Book your appointment through the Employee COVID-19 Vaccination form.
