Celebrate Pride Month 2022

Join us in celebrating Pride Month 

LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated in June to commemorate the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan which began on June 28, 1969. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. This commemorative month also recognizes the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. Today, LGBTQ+ Pride Month celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia, concerts, and events attracting millions of participants around the world.

At UT Southwestern, we recognize Pride Month to honor the many contributions that our LGBTQ+ and allied employees have made to our workplace and to our country.

The Office of Institutional Equity & Access’ Division of Diversity & Inclusion and the LGBT & Allies Business Resource Group (LGBTA BRG) invite you to take this opportunity to learn, appreciate, and celebrate Pride Month through a range of virtual or in-person events.

Register for the 2022 Pride Month Signature Celebration (June 15)

Keynote Speaker: Jaime Almandoz, M.D., M.B.A., FTOS

The Office of Institutional Equity & Access’ Division of Diversity & Inclusion and the LGBTQA BRG invite you to the annual Pride Month Celebration on Wednesday, June 15 from noon - 1 p.m., featuring keynote speaker Jaime Almandoz, M.D., M.B.A., FTOS, Medical Director of the UT Southwestern Weight Wellness Program and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine. The celebration will include remarks by Marc A. Nivet, Ed.D., M.B.A., EVP for Institutional Advancement, a live Q&A session, trivia, and prizes. A light reception will precede the event at 11:30 a.m. All UTSW faculty, staff, learners, and visitors are welcome to attend.

Visit the LGBTA BRG table at a cafeteria near you

The LGBTA BRG will have a table set up at several locations throughout the month of June. BRG members will give away fun swag, answer questions about the BRG, and gather contact information from individuals who are interested in joining the BRG or learning more.
