Interested in an MBA? This program is designed especially for you
As a top academic medical center that integrates research, teaching, and patient care, UT Southwestern benefits from faculty and staff who possess strong leadership and business skills. In partnership with UT Dallas’ Naveen Jindal School of Management, UTSW sponsors a comprehensive Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree with a concentration in Healthcare Organization Leadership specifically designed for our leaders. The application window is open through June 30.

Q&A with Mark Raschke, Leadership Development Program Manager
I’m working full time. What are the biggest challenges I will face?
All of our participants (and our graduates) are busy. Our graduates acknowledge that there is a time commitment involved and agree that there are different strategies on how to best use your time. We strongly encourage our participants to reach out to others to share their ideas on time management.
With that in mind, we’ve designed this program specifically for our working professionals. There are intensive classes, which are daylong sessions (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday-Sunday, six weekends per year) sessions at UT Dallas as well as online classwork. The time commitment is variable based on the course, and you’ll have all course requirements and deadlines in advance. Much of the course work involves group assignments, and our graduates all enjoyed the opportunities they had to work together to succeed in the program.
I am very busy and dread the thought of going back to school. What makes this program different?
We’ve collaborated with UT Dallas to build a program that meets the needs of working professionals. The simple application process (which includes a letter of intent and three recommendation letters) does not require standardized testing (GRE or GMAT).
Participants are all UTSW employees with a wide range of experience. Course work is designed for those that work here. Participants in the course are a mix of professionals, both faculty and non-faculty, who have people management experience (or the potential to be in a people manager role).
How has graduating from the program helped graduates in their current role?
Some graduates of the program applied what they learned as they advanced into more challenging roles. Others learned techniques to influence others. A key aspect of the program is executive coaching, which helps participants recognize their strengths and any blind spots that they can work to improve. Another key component of the program is the opportunity to network and make connections across campus that you might not otherwise make.
What advice do you have for someone considering this program?
One of our program’s graduates said it perfectly: Consider where you are now, and where you see yourself in the future. If you see yourself at UTSW years from now, then what you learn and the network you’ll acquire will truly help you achieve your goals.
