Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May
Join UT Southwestern in celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month began as a 10-day celebration and became a federally recognized month-long heritage celebration in 1992. UTSW celebrates this month to honor the contributions and achievements Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans have made to the history of the United States and internationally.
A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, and the Federated States of Micronesia), and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).
UT Southwestern’s Asian-Pacific Islander Business Resource Group (API BRG) worked with Nutrition Services to offer a variety of Asian Pacific American inspired cuisines in the Clements University Hospital (CUH) and Zale cafeterias each Thursday in May.
