What does the future hold for UTSW?
UT Southwestern’s Six-Year Strategic Plan defines our institutional priorities and goals – a guiding force in driving forward UTSW’s mission of promoting health and a healthy society that enables individuals to achieve their full potential.
In even-numbered years, multidisciplinary subcommittees comprising of faculty, students, and staff are appointed by Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, President of UT Southwestern, to review our progress on institutional goals, suggest key priorities, prioritize institutional needs, and make recommendations on resource allocations. These groups develop the Six-Year Strategic Plan for the next six years, with this year’s subcommittees addressing plans for 2020-2026. In this way, there is a rolling, strategic plan to track our progress on major initiatives and outline new priorities to achieve our goals in education, research, clinical care, and administrative areas.
The Six-Year Strategic Plan for 2020-2026 incorporates goals from areas throughout the organization, but several crosscutting themes have emerged, which can be considered institutional priorities for UT Southwestern:
- Attracting and retaining the best and brightest
- Advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and community impact
- Long-term impact of COVID-19 on campus operations
- Support for educators using state-of-the-art teaching modalities
- Building for current and future needs
- Leveraging clinical informatics and data sciences
- Continuing an emphasis on improving patient outcomes
- Establishing a School of Public Health
