Making your voice heard: Reminders for casting your vote

Election Day is Nov. 3, and UT Southwestern encourages all members of our community to make time to vote this election cycle. While the process feels different this year due to added precautions in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, early voting is under way in Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, and neighboring counties through Oct. 30. Whenever possible, employees should vote before or after their normal work hours. If that’s not possible, please work with your supervisor in advance on arrangements in accordance with UT Southwestern’s Voting Leave Policy (EMP-264).

As the electoral process continues over the next two weeks, remember that UT Southwestern and its employees are bound by the following restrictions for the protection of our institution:
  • State funds and state property may not be used to influence the outcome of any election, legislative measure, or to participate in any political activity or campaign (ETH-110).
  • Employees wishing to communicate political opinions may only do so on their own time, without using UTSW resources, stationery, email, titles, branding, logos, or social media handles (ADM-302).

UT Southwestern remains committed to the free and open exchange of ideas as a pillar of our democracy, and we hope everyone in our community will exercise their right to make their voices heard at the polls this season.
