Step up, take a break, and track your spending with the Keep UT Active challenge
Join a challenge that’s good for your mind, body, and wallet! Registration for Keep UT Active opens Sept. 16 and closes Oct. 7. The challenge is based on three healthy habits: physical activity, microbreaks, and spending habits. Participate from Sept. 30 to Nov. 10.
Physical activity
Track your steps using a wearable tracking device, the Apple Health app, or by plugging in your activity and exercise minutes in the program’s Step Converter. Points will be earned as follows:
- 30-44 minutes/6000-7999 steps = 3 points
- 45-59 minutes/8000-9999 steps = 4 points
- 60+ minutes/10,000+ steps = 5 points
Microbreaks
Don’t shut your mind down! Switch channels for a few minutes to come back refreshed and ready to focus. Simply changing your scenery, heading to a quiet room, or closing your eyes and listening to music will qualify.
Check the appropriate box if you had a two to three-minute microbreak for one point.
Spending habits
Take charge of your spending habits by tracking them. Keep all your receipts and try to record your expenditures daily using paper and pen, a spreadsheet, or a mobile app. By recognizing your spending habits and making any necessary changes, it will help you reduce stress and have you feel more in control of your finances.
Check the appropriate box if you tracked your expenses for one point.
Goal
The weekly goal is 25 points, as points are based on the number of healthy habits performed throughout the week.
- Example: 1 habit = 15 points, 2 habits = 20 points, 3 habits = 25 points
Overall goal (weekly goal x 6 weeks) = 150 points
