2020 DART Pass application period, Nov. 4-8
Parking Services will begin accepting Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Pass applications for 2020 on Monday, Nov. 4. Applications are due no later than 11:59 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8.
For 2020, the GoPass Tap Card will replace the physical Hard Pass. Please see below for more information.
UT Southwestern will continue to provide subsidies to full-time employees based on salary and the type of DART pass purchased. By purchasing a DART pass through UTSW, employees and students can save an average of more than 50 percent of the standard price. Part-time employees are able to purchase a DART pass at Level C rates.
Payroll deductions will be made on a pre-tax basis over a 12-month period, beginning Jan. 1, 2020. Priority processing will be given to those who meet the deadline. Applications received after Nov. 8 will not be guaranteed delivery prior to Jan. 1, 2020.
DART GoPass Tap Card (physical, formerly known as the Hard Pass)
The GoPass Tap Card is a new way to buy and show proof-of-purchase to ride DART buses and trains. They are “smart” cards and can be turned off if a card is lost or stolen, and the value on the card is saved electronically.
To show that their fare is “active,” riders tap the card at one of the blue validators located along the rail station platforms and/or when boarding a bus. To check for valid payment on the rail, Fare Enforcement Officers now have scanners that can verify that a card was tapped prior to boarding.
Employer Pass (ePass) riders will be required to tap their cards each time they board. Failure to tap may result in receiving a citation.
ePass customers who do not wish to tap may find that this is the ideal time to switch their pass to the GoPass, which saves passes on Android or iPhones and does not require tapping.
