Celebration of employee service and dedication
Feb. 26, 2018
A Message from UT Southwestern President Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D.
Today marks the beginning of Employee Recognition Week at UT Southwestern Medical Center, an annual event that is always an important moment in the life of our campus community, and one which takes on special meaning this year as we celebrate UT Southwestern’s 75th anniversary, honoring our past as we look ahead to our future.
Every UT Southwestern employee has a role to play in advancing UT Southwestern’s mission as an academic medical center. The work you do each day contributes to UT Southwestern’s legacy of transforming the landscape of science and medicine. This week, we recognize those contributions and celebrate the service and dedication of colleagues who have reached milestone anniversaries of their years at UT Southwestern.
I encourage all of you to read the special Employee Recognition issue of the Center Times, available later this week on campus and online. In it, we profile employees who have reached 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 years of service. These short summaries will give you a sense of the many paths that exist at UT Southwestern to fulfill career aspirations, and I believe they also highlight some of the reasons that we have become an exceptional workplace. A special thanks and congratulations to Margaret Mitchell, a housekeeping attendant with our University Hospitals, who marks 50 years of service this year at UT Southwestern.
I also especially congratulate those of you who are marking your 25th year of service and hope you are planning to attend the March 1 Quarter Century Club luncheon later this week. Each year, the induction of a new cohort of Quarter Century Club members reminds us of the strong sense of community that exists among longtime UT Southwestern employees, and the enduring sense of connection that many hold for UT Southwestern.
I thank you for all you do to contribute to UT Southwestern – this week and throughout the year. Your contributions help make UT Southwestern the special institution we are all privileged to serve.
Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D.
