Accessing care through UT CONNECT
For employees who selected the UT CONNECT health benefit option for 2018-2019, care is provided through the network. This includes Southwestern Health Resources, the clinically integrated network established by UT Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Health Resources, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas providers. More specifically, this network includes:
- UT Southwestern Medical Center
- Texas Health Resources
- Thousands of in-network doctors and caregivers in North Texas
- Children’s Health, Cook Children’s Medical Center, and Medical City Dallas (for pediatric care)
- Urgent care centers in North Texas (and throughout the United States)
For emergencies, employees can receive care outside of the network – an exception to the in-network requirement. From anywhere in the world, out-of-network coverage is permitted for emergent health issues ranging from heart problems to heavy bleeding and broken bones.
UT CONNECT requires members to have a primary care physician (PCP) to coordinate all health care needs. Your PCP also coordinates referrals to specialists. One exception to this requirement is that members can see OB/Gyns for annual well-woman exams without a referral.
