Grab your swag, snap a selfie, and celebrate 75 years

Since kicking off 75th anniversary celebrations earlier this year, UT Southwestern employees, students, alumni, and friends have enjoyed reminiscing over how far the Institution has come and looking forward to where it is yet to go.

In his message to the campus, Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, President of UT Southwestern, said: “This anniversary is … an opportunity to advance the next era in UT Southwestern’s journey. Building on the first 75 years, UT Southwestern in the years ahead can transform the health of our community and worldwide through the discoveries that will be made, the care delivered, and the education and training that will remain a cornerstone of our institution. Each of us at UT Southwestern is in a position to make a difference and to contribute to our commitment to excellence, compassion, innovation, and teamwork.”

In this spirit, 75th anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the year!

  • Starting Monday, March 12, share your love for UT Southwestern by taking a selfie with the new signage on South Campus at the Visitor Information Center (A building) and McDermott Lecture Halls (D building). Share it with 75years@utsouthwestern.edu or on social media, and use hashtag #UTSW75.
  • During your lunch on Monday, pick up 75th anniversary badges and lanyards at tables throughout campus. Items will be distributed 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the following locations:
    • South Campus: Eugene McDermott Plaza (outside the cafeteria) and the Bryan Williams, M.D. Student Center
    • West Campus: School of Health Professions and William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital
    • North Campus: Bass Center food court and T. Boone Pickens Biomedical Building commons
    • East Campus: BioCenter at Southwestern Medical District and Zale Lipshy University Hospital
    • Satellite locations: Brookriver, Richardson/Plano, Moncrief, and Park Cities
  • Have you submitted your six-word story yet? People are sharing theirs via social media, and you’ll see more of them soon!
  • Take some time to read the stories we’re sharing at the 75th anniversary website, including historical perspectives from alumni and current perspectives from members of the UT Southwestern community.
  • The events are about to get bigger and better. Look for an announcement in next week’s Campus Update.

For more updates, keep an eye on the 75th anniversary website throughout the year.
