Don’t be scammed by your next robocall

Robocalls are automated pre-recorded calls to your phone. Some robocalls are legitimate. Others are from scammers using automated software to make fraudulent calls.

Good rules of thumb when you’re not sure if a robocall is fraudulent:

  • If you don’t know the caller, let the call go to voicemail.
  • Don’t rely on caller ID – fraudsters can spoof it to look legitimate.
  • Suspicious? Hang up.
  • Don’t press keys – this identifies your number as a live number which may lead to more calls.
  • Some robocalls sound like a live person and can respond to your questions. Don’t speak to the recording and avoid the word "yes," which can be reused by fraudsters.
