Search the internet to see what information about you is publicly available. These same resources are available to cybercriminals who can use what they find to target you.
- Search using InPrivate or Incognito mode to see the results a random person would find.
- Check out Have I Been Pwned to see if your account has been involved in a data breach.
- Open a browser search box and start by typing your name in quotes. Add more information such as your email address, the town you live in, or your phone number.
- Consider what you share publicly by verifying your social media account security and privacy settings. Deactivate online accounts you no longer use.
- Don’t assume an email, call, or text is legitimate because it contains some accurate facts about you.
