Deepfake

Deepfake refers to a video, photo or voice clone that is created using artificial intelligence (AI). AI can be used to replicate images, speech patterns and mannerisms to manipulate depictions of people and events. Threat actors can use this technology to spread misinformation, cause disruption, and erode trust.

Voice cloning uses Al to mimic a person's voice by analyzing and synthesizing speech patterns.

Face swapping replaces the face of a person in an existing video or image with another face.

Live deepfakes generate real-time manipulated content, allowing for live impersonation or alteration of faces and voices during video calls or live streaming.

Video manipulation alters the content by adding, removing, or modifying elements beyond just face swapping.

Listen for a monotone delivery, odd pitch or emotion, and lack of background noise. Watch for unnatural details (e.g., blinking, speech patterns, lip movement, hair texture, shadows, lighting). Deepfakes are getting harder and harder to recognize. As with all suspicious information, verify it using reputable sources.
