Conflict of Interest

The University Conflict of Interest Office helps investigators identify, understand, and manage conflicts of interest. Each UT Southwestern faculty member must submit an annual Statement of Financial Interests, which is accessible through iAIM/Faculty/eCOI Disclosure, which will link you to the eResearch Application.

Before a grant application can be sent to a sponsoring agency, the Conflict of Interest Office must have statements on file for all key personnel listed in the application. All research applications to federal agencies require certification that the investigators conducting the research do not have a conflict of interest which might compromise the conduct of the proposed research or the interpretation of the results of the research.

Postdoctoral Training Program

All postdoctoral scholars at UT Southwestern participate in the Postdoctoral Certificate Training Program, which is administered by the Graduate School. The goal is to provide a structured program to aid the transition of each trainee to career independence through the development of professional and research skills. The program is organized along the lines of continuing professional training and is graded on a pass/fail system. Registered postdoctoral scholars are afforded access to the Student Health Service, as well as fitness and recreation opportunities at the Bryan Williams, M.D., Student Center, and the lowest parking rates.

Guidelines for advertising postdoctoral training positions at UT Southwestern are available from the Postdoctoral Affairs Office:SGSPostdocOffice@UTSouthwestern.ed

Mentoring Graduate Students

Along with your appointment to the Medical School or School of Health Professions, you also have a concurrent non-divisional appointment to the Graduate School. It is necessary to apply for an appointment in a graduate program in one of three divisions to be able to mentor graduate students.

Graduate programs are non-Departmental and administered by a Graduate Studies Committee formed from the faculty belonging to the program. If you have an interest in training graduate students, please contact Deborah Evalds at
Deborah.Evalds@UTSouthwestern.edu for guidance on the appointment process to specific programs, and to learn about participating in activities that are effective forums to meet and recruit graduate students.

The Division of Basic Science offers Ph.D. degrees in:

Three specialties may be added to any of the Ph.D. programs:
