Ghewa Sbaiti

Ghewa Sbaiti was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. She graduated with a B.S. in Biology from UT Arlington in 2019, where she completed her pharmacy pre-requisites, and is now a Doctor of Pharmacy Candidate, Class of 2025, at UNTHSC.
She also works as a Pharmacy Intern at UTSW Medical Center. Her post-graduation goals are to apply for residency and pursue a career in a specialty of her area of interest, which includes critical care, oncology, or emergency medicine.
Ghewa and her husband got married in June 2021 with a shared dream of travelling the world together and having a successful, loving family. Outside of school and work, her hobbies are hiking, swimming, and baking.
Joel Zapata

Joel Zapata is currently a P4 at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Dallas Campus. He is from El Paso, Texas, and graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at Texas Tech University in 2021.
Joel pursued a career in pharmacy for the variety of career options and his desire to be involved in the improvement of others’ health. His career interests include critical care, infectious diseases, oncology, emergency medicine, and solid organ transplant. He is involved in various student organizations such as Industry Pharmacist Organization, Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, and Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children.
Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys spending time in the outdoors such as hiking and camping, playing golf, and cheering on his favorite sports teams in Dallas.
Yuqing (Emily) Luo

Emily Luo is currently a P4 at UNTHSC College of Pharmacy. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Healthcare Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas. Emily previously worked at Kroger as a certified pharmacy technician for two years before joining UTSW.
She maintains leadership roles on campus such as PSGA Curriculum Liaison, APhA-ASP Communications VP, APA Historian, Kappa Psi Rush Chair Committee, and Kappa Psi Pledge Chair Committee. Her current career interests are Pharmacy Administration and she hopes to pursue a residency following pharmacy school.
Outside of pharmacy, Emily enjoys taking pilates and ballet classes to help with physical and emotional wellness. She also likes to watch cat videos on TikTok during downtime.
Daman Saini

Daman Saini is currently a P3 pursing her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health Leadership dual degree at UNTHSC. She graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Science and B.S. in Public Health from Texas A&M University in 2022.
Daman is grateful to pursue this internship program at UTSW due to the numerous opportunities it gives her for personal and professional growth as a future pharmacist. She is determined to pursue a residency in a specialty of interest. Currently, she is intrigued by ambulatory care, critical care, oncology, psychiatry, and emergency medicine.
At UNTHSC, she is the president elect for the American Society of Consultant Pharmacy organization. She is also involved in other organizations such as the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHP) and Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA). In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and her two golden retrievers, Aero and Jager.

Born in Columbia, MO, raised in Abilene, TX, Pickard graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, with a Bachelor's in Science. He earned a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Currently he's a Pharm. D. candidate of the UNTHSC class of 2026.
Now working as a Pharmacy Intern at UTSW Medical Center, his post-graduation goals are to apply for residency with a specialty in critical care.
Outside of school and work, he enjoys exercising, soccer, esports, golfing, music and cooking.
Nathan Khaodeuanepheng

Nathan Khaodeuanepheng is currently a pharmacy intern at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is a third-year pharmacy student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Jerry H. Hodges School of Pharmacy. Nathan received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Baylor University in 2018, as well as his Master of Science in Biochemistry from Texas State University in 2022.
Nathan chose the UTSW Pharmacy intern program because of the variety of providers available to learn from here, as well as the positive work environment. His current interest in pharmacy includes critical care, cardiology, and pediatrics. Nathan is currently the treasurer for the Delta Kappa Chapter of Phi Delta Chi.
During his free time, Nathan enjoys working on cars, staying active, and spending time with family.
Thomas Gassert

Thomas Gassert is a P3 at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He was born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Arkansas in 2020.
Thomas is very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the acute care pharmacy internship program at UTSW and believes it will help elevate and prepare him for his professional aspirations. Some of his current career interests revolve around infectious disease and psychiatric pharmacy, as well as different medical affairs specialties in industry. He is involved in organizations such as Industry Pharmacists Organization and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, and loves giving back any chance he can get.
In his free time, Thomas enjoys trying new coffee shops, long drives that turn into unexpected vacations, and a fun game night with friends. He also likes to go to concerts and hiking with his dog when the weather is nice.

Asha Oommen completed her prerequisites at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is currently a P2 student at Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Pharmacy, Dallas. She is extremely grateful for the opportunity to intern at UT Southwestern, and looks forward to learning and growing as a future pharmacist.
In her free time, Asha enjoys working on her reselling business, attending concerts, and going on spontaneous weekend trips.
Brittiana McDowell

Brittiana McDowell is currently a P2 at the University of North Texas Health Science Center College of Pharmacy and a pharmacy intern at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Langston University before pursuing a career in pharmacy.
She is thankful for the opportunity to join the Acute Care Pharmacy Intern Program as she was drawn to its diverse opportunities for mentorship, research, networking, and its comprehensive preparation for a career in pharmacy.
Her current interests in pharmacy include infectious diseases, solid organ transplant, and academia. After pharmacy school, Brittiana hopes to secure a residency in one of her fields of interest. She is involved in many student organizations, including the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, Phi Delta Chi, and UNTHSC’s Black Professional Pharmacy Association. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, spending quality time with her dog, Dash, and discovering new activities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Jacob Castro

Jacob is currently a P2 pharmacy student at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Before pursuing pharmacy, he studied nursing at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. His nursing background has provided him with a strong foundation in patient care, which he now applies to his pharmacy studies to enhance his understanding of treatment and therapeutic strategies.
Jacob is grateful to be part of the Acute Care Pharmacy Internship Program at UT Southwestern, where he has learned a great deal and continues to grow in his clinical pharmacy knowledge. Jacob’s pharmacy interests include critical care, ambulatory care, and infectious disease, and he hopes to pursue a residency post-graduation to further specialize in one of these areas.
At UNTHSC, Jacob is actively involved in Phi Delta Chi (PDC) and serves as a Student Ambassador, where he enjoys networking with fellow and prospective students. Outside of school, Jacob enjoys spending quality time with his wife and family, cooking, and exploring new food spots around the area.
Sarina George

Sarina George is a second-year student pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration dual degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Woman’s University. Sarina is honored to be part of the internship program at UT Southwestern, where she is excited to gain hands-on clinical experience and further explore her passion for patient-centered care.
At TTUHSC, Sarina was selected for the Honors Research Program, where she contributes to neuropsychological pharmacology projects. Within her school, she serves as a TTUHSC Student Ambassador, Vice President of the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists, and Public Relations Officer for the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists. She is also an active member of other school organizations, including the Student Chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International.
After pharmacy school, Sarina plans to pursue a residency and build a career specializing in her areas of interest, which include neurology, psychiatry, academia, or pediatrics. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, staying involved in church, and exploring new coffee shops.
