Residents select new leaders for 2021

Physicians in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency training program have selected Dr. Paola Matheus and Dr. Bo Still to serve as Senior Chief Residents, and Dr. Trent Bawcum to serve as Junior Chief Resident through March 2022. Trainees in the Interventional Radiology Residency programs have chosen Dr. Ryan Murphy to serve as Senior Chief Resident and Dr. Prakash Gajera to serve as Junior Chief Resident during the same time period. Each of these residents have distinguished themselves as teachers and role models, with strong educational and administrative skills.

Dr. Matheus, a native of Venezuela, received a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and exercise science from the University of Texas at Austin before obtaining her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. During her free time, she enjoys watching movies and working out.

Originally from San Antonio, Dr. Still received a bachelor's degree in neurobiology from the University of Texas at Austin before obtaining his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His clinical interests include hepatobiliary interventions. Dr. Still enjoys baking bread, running with his dogs, and playing board games during his free time.

Dr. Bawcum, from Rowlett, Texas,received a bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in chemistry from Texas Tech University before obtaining his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He maintains clinical interests in interventional radiology and musculoskeletal radiology. During his free time, Dr. Bawcum enjoys boating, trying new craft bears, playing sports, and spending time with his family.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Murphy received undergraduate degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Memphis before pursuing his medical education at the University of Tennessee. A self-professed foodie, he also enjoys skiing, long-distance running, weightlifting, biking, and diving.

Dr. Gajera is from Round Rock, Texas, and received his undergraduate degree in business honors and finance from the University of Texas at Austin before obtaining his medical degree from UT Southwestern. During his free time, he enjoys running, cooking, Indian dance, board games, and traveling.
