SBRT/SAbR Program
Radiation oncologists, medical physicists, medical dosimetrists, administrators, and radiation therapists interested in implementing stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)/stereotactic ablative therapy (SAbR) into clinical practice or those seeking to refresh skills are encouraged to attend this program.
Led by Zabi Wardak, M.D., Associate Professor, and Paul Medin, Ph.D., Professor, the primary focus of this CME course is to help oncology professionals in both large and small centers, including both academic and community practice, learn about the proper implementation of a viable and effective SBRT/SAbR treatment practice.
Covered topics include:
- The evolution of SBRT/SAbR (from its roots in image-guided 3-D conformal therapy and radiosurgery, toward ablation of tumors in the body)
- Guidelines for conducting proper treatment
- Treatment planning on two different types of treatment planning systems: Eclipse and Monaco
- Physics and dosimetry with attention to the unique requirements of SBRT/SAbR beyond conventional radiotherapy and IMRT
- Billing and compliance
Clinical outcomes and treatment patterns in spine, liver, lung, kidney, and prostate cancers, as well as a description of various treatment platforms in clinical operation, are also included.
