Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (HLA)
The Transplant Immunology and Histocompatibility Laboratory is accredited by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). It offers compatibility services for solid organ and bone marrow transplantation as well as HLA typing for disease association and hypersensitivity.
Tests offered include:
- Flow Cytometry crossmatch
- Luminex PRA and Single Antigen testing
- Molecular HLA Typing (intermediate and high resolution)
The laboratory operates 24/7 for STAT transplant services and is committed to the highest technical and professional standards.
The laboratory also performs testing for disease-associated HLA alleles such as HLA-B27 for Ankylosing Spondylitis, HLA-DQB1*0602 for Narcolepsy, and HLA-DQ for Celiac Disease. Other tests include HLA typing for drug hypersensitivity such as HLA-B5701 for Abacavir sensitivity.
Our staff, which includes 12 certified laboratory technologists, is dedicated to providing the best customer service. All reports are reviewed and approved by an ASHI-accredited and ABHI board-certified laboratory director, who is available for consultation with referring physicians.
