An interprofessional steering committee, including members from the academic, clinical, and health system arenas at the medical center, came together and created a Strategic Plan for Interprofessional Practice and Education (IPE) at UT Southwestern. The committee established the mission and vision for IPE at UT Southwestern and identified four main strategic directions:

1. Promote the advancement of interprofessional education and collaborative practice
2. Provide interprofessional faculty and staff development including preceptor training and continuing education to preceptors who supervise UT Southwestern students,
3. Bridge the integration of collaborative practice models and education, and
4. Foster innovation in the area of interprofessional collaborative practice and education.

IPE Strategic Plan
