Patient Care
The Division of General and Community Pediatrics provides outpatient primary care to children and adolescents (birth to 18 years of age) at the Children's Health Pediatric Primary Care Dallas campus. Patients receive preventive health services, treatment for acute illnesses, and long-term management of chronic conditions such as asthma, obesity, cardiometabolic disease risk, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. At this site, faculty members also train UT Southwestern Pediatrics and Medicine-Pediatrics residents in the provision of outpatient primary care.
Research
Division faculty conduct clinical and educational research in a variety of areas. Current studies focus on early literacy and the effects of digital media use on brain development, maternal and child health, cardiometabolic disease risk prevention, medical student education, and the effects of nutrition education among elementary school children.
