Clinical Informatics Fellowship
The director of the Clinical Informatics Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center Robert Turer, MD oversees the Clinical Informatics Fellowship program in the Department of Pediatrics which started in July 2022. We are an ACGME accredited program and will recruit up to TWO fellows (with any primary specialty) per year.
The Department of Pediatrics at UTSW (home to the fellowship) has 500+ faculty and staff, 18 Divisions and Center, 200+ doctors in training, 15 ACGME-certified subspecialties in pediatrics, 7 clinical sites, 477 active clinical studies, 350+ publications, and 70.4 million in grant funding.
The Clinical Informatics Fellowship is supported by a robust group of 25 board certified physicians, who will be available to mentor and educate fellows. Fellows will experience rotations at Clements University Hospital, Children’s Medical Center, Parkland Hospital, and the VA providing them access to three different Epic instances, access to VistA, and vastly different patient populations and informatics needs and experiences. The fellowship is supported by the Clinical Informatics Center, which was established in 2019 and has grown to seven primary members and a 30+ affiliated faculty. In the three years since its start, the Clinical Informatics Center has published 90+ manuscripts, established a Master of Science in Health Informatics in the Graduate School (open to the fellows), and received funding from numerous sources. The Clinical Informatics Center offers a monthly colloquium providing health information technology updates and education and is a founding member of the Texas Health Informatics Alliance.
