Daniel Addison Named Director of Translational Research in Cardiology
Dr. Daniel Addison, a a tenured Associate Professor, Ruth Jannson Wilson Endowed Professor, and Director of the Cardio-Oncology Program at The Ohio State University, has accepted an appointment as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Director of Translational Research in the Division of Cardiology, and Associate Director for Survivorship and Outcomes Research in the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center.

To support his recruitment and the development of his research program at UT Southwestern, Dr. Addison has also received a $4 million Rising Star Scholar award from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).
Dr. Addison is internationally recognized for his translational and clinical research in cardio-oncology and cardiac imaging. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Oral Roberts University. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College and completed internal medicine residency training from Baylor College of Medicine, where he also received advanced training through a fellowship in cardiology. He then completed a T32 research fellowship focused on advanced imaging and cardio-oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
At The Ohio State University, Dr. Addison has obtained three R01 awards allowing him to study mechanisms linking cancer treatments with cardiovascular disease, and interventions to mitigate or prevent these complications in multicenter clinical trials. He has published more than 140 original research articles and led or participated in multiple key scientific statements from the American Heart Association (AHA). He has also served in multiple leadership roles within the AHA, International Cardio-Oncology Society, American College of Cardiology, National Cancer Institute Alliance, and he was recently elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation.
