Brian Weis Appointed Interim Regional Dean for Texas Tech’s Medical School

Brian Weis, M.D., Ph.D., a former UT Southwestern faculty member and a graduate of the Physician-Scientist Training Program, has been appointed interim regional dean for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine in Amarillo.

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Weis holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Georgetown University, which he received summa cum laude. After obtaining his medical degree and Ph.D. in biochemistry, he remained at UT Southwestern to complete internal medicine residency training before becoming a senior research associate. In 2005, he was recruited to TTUHSC to become the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. He currently serves as Professor of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer of Northwest Texas Healthcare System.
