EMT/Paramedic Continuing Education
We are a full-service continuing educational provider for EMTs and paramedics approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Our goal is to enhance the out-of-hospital clinical care rendered by our EMS partners, going beyond meeting the established regulatory requirements. We support EMS agencies with quality improvement initiatives and use the findings to drive our educational process.
Course Offerings
We offer episodic and standalone courses led by American Board of Emergency Medicine-certified physicians and paramedic educators.
The card courses currently offered are:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Additionally, we regularly offer cadaver labs, ultrasound courses, difficult airway courses, and other topics of interest. These offerings can be delivered under a contractual arrangement or a la carte.
Course Delivery
We provide education through several methods:
- In-person/traditional live didactic lessons
- Virtual Instructor-Led Technology lessons
- Live panel/podcast
- Card courses
- Simulation training
Course Content
Our education modules are written with significant input from physicians, including collaboration with EMS fellows and leaders outside of emergency medicine. Because the topics are locally written, we can adjust in a timely and rapid fashion due to emerging events (e.g., COVID-19 pandemic).
Faculty
Our Division of Emergency Medical Services has strong paramedic instructors who are true educators and have an extensive knowledge of emergency medicine. Most members have made significant contributions to EMS at the local, state, national, and international levels.
Additionally, our faculty are responsible for the development of the Dallas County clinical practice guidelines.
