Faculty members from the department invite outside speakers to visit the department, present their research work, and meet with interested faculty, students, and postdoctoral fellows.

  • Graduate Students Works-in-Progress

    Cell Biology department students and their advisors can elect to be members in seven different UTSW graduate programs – Biological Chemistry; Biomedical Engineering; Cancer Biology; Cell & Molecular Biology; Genetics, Development & Disease; Molecular Biophysics; and Molecular Microbiology. Students periodically present seminars about their ongoing work in their graduate programs.

  • Postdoctoral Fellows Works-in-Progress

    Cell Biology postdoctoral fellows periodically present seminars about their ongoing work to the entire Cell Biology department. After the seminars, fellows can meet with the faculty in attendance to discuss diverse matters ranging from the style of presentation to future opportunities.

    Cell Biology department research talks aim to enhance education opportunities and research excellence at every level of the department.

  • Retreat

    In the Fall, the department holds a one-day retreat to bring together students, postdocs, and faculty for formal and informal opportunities to share ideas and advance education and research excellence.

  • Rupert E. Billingham Lectureship in Cell Biology

    Rupert E. Billingham was the founding chair of Cell Biology in 1971 and led the department until his retirement in 1985. The Billingham Lectureship brings to UT Southwestern leaders in field of cell biology to lecture about their work and meet with interested UT Southwestern researchers.
