Research and Career Development Opportunities
Research Talks
To enhance student and post-doctoral training, our department hosts several Research Talks. These include regular Works-In-Progress seminars where trainees can present their research projects in oral presentations to an audience of their peers and receive expert feedback and advice.
Career Development Seminars
In addition, the post-doctoral scholars of the Cell Biology Department host monthly Career Development Seminars where trainees can attend talks from speakers providing career and professional advice. Past speakers have featured topics including:
- Advice on fellowship writing
- How to interview for industry jobs
- How to find academic jobs
Postdoctoral training in the Department of Cell Biology equips trainees to become highly competitive for prestigious positions, including independent faculty roles, industry leadership, and other influential career paths.
Department Retreat
The department also organizes a yearly Departmental Retreat featuring scientific talks and fun activities.
Seminar Series
Our department also hosts a monthly Cell Biology Leading Edge Seminar Series featuring world renowned speakers who present their original research. Trainees are provided with opportunities to meet and speak with invited speakers during their seminars, as well as during lunch following each speaker’s talk.
